Co-Regulation in Practice

Supporting K–12 Educators with Self-Reg (with Project)

Starting November 4, 2025 (on Zoom)

This course was created for the people supporting the people.

If you're the one leading school-based professional learning, coaching educators through challenges, joining tough conversations, or helping teams find their footing—this course is for you.

You know Self-Reg. You’ve shared the concepts, delivered the sessions, walked through strategies. But the work of helping others actually apply Self-Reg—when they're tired, overwhelmed, or facing repeated challenges—is where things get hard.

This course brings together science, skill, and practice for those whose job is to support the learning of others. It’s not a train-the-trainer in name, but it is in spirit: you’ll strengthen your ability to facilitate meaningful adult learning, embed Self-Reg in schools without it feeling like “one more thing,” and support lasting change—even when things feel stuck.

What You'll Gain

You’ll leave with:
  1. Strategies to lead reflective adult learning using the Self-Reg 5 Steps, 5 Look-Fors, and Thayer Matrix
  2. Tools for identifying state—not just behaviour—so you can time and tailor support for impact
  3. A clear understanding of brain-body states, maladaptive modes of self-regulation, and the emotional drivers behind common school challenges
  4. Approaches to embed Self-Reg into existing professional learning, curriculum planning, equity initiatives, family engagement, and staff development
  5. Techniques to support educator, EA  and other staff restoration and reduce burnout—without adding pressure or shame
  6. A new way to support stuck systems: one rooted in co-regulation, insight, and relational trust
  7. This is a course about how to lead, coach, and co-regulate in ways that support real change.

Applied Project

Although optional, the applied project will grant you a certificate at the completion of this course.

Mini Case Study + 100-Day Plan

Apply the Self-Reg framework to a real-world support moment in your role. You’ll:
  • Choose a situation from your current or recent work (e.g. challenging team dynamic, recurring issue, coaching stuckness)
  • Reflect using the Self-Reg 5 Steps, 5 Look-Fors, PECS, and Thayer Matrix
  • Develop a 100-day plan that’s relational, realistic, and tailored to your context
  • Submit a short written, visual, or narrated reflection for feedback
This is about planning change that sticks—because it’s co-regulated, not imposed.
